The study focuses on attacking and defensive activities around urban walls during sieges, taking into account texts and bas-reliefs of the Neo-Assyrian period (9th-7th century BC). The wall of the city is the real space of the war that is fought between the besieged and the besieging army. In the middle of crossed fire, the wall is the target of simultaneous actions in separate space (in front of and behind the defensive line) and opposite actions (offensive and defensive).
