In the present phase of the oil industry, the re-evaluation of hydrocarbon reserves is becoming a crucial point in order to optimize the development and management of the producing fields. A technological innovation in this domain, aimed at synthetizing all the information acquired during the field history, is the application of the geostatistical procedures and related techniques since they can take into account the spatial variability of the parameters. At present, they are carried out on the basis of the statical information in order to describe the internal structure of the reservoir and its heterogeneities. Qualitative information can also be conveniently taken into account. This paper presents an overview of the main geostatistical techniques which can be applied, such as the modeling of reservoir parameters through simple kriging and “kriging with external drift” in the presence of faults. An example of an Italian field is also presented.

Abstract
An example of an Italian field is also presented.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
