An SSFLCD-switching model is presented to examine the influence of space charge, depolarizing fields and inhomogeneous switching on recently proposed fast SSFLCD-addressing methods for FLC's with important dielectric biaxiality. A correct inhomogeneous electric field calculation is included for the first time. We use the model to check operational regions found with a simplified homogeneous switching model.

Abstract

An SSFLCD-switching model is presented to examine the influence of space charge, depolarizing fields and inhomogeneous switching on recently proposed fast SSFLCD-addressing methods for FLC's with important dielectric biaxiality. A correct inhomogeneous electric field calculation is included for the first time. We use the model to check operational regions found with a simplified homogeneous switching model.
