Memoria nazionale, vecchie e nuove televisioni Abstract Nata ufficialmente in Italia il 3 gennaio del 1954, la televisione ha accolto il racconto delle celebrazioni dell’unità nazionale soprattutto nel 2011. Anche se nella sua vita da oramai stanca sessantenne la tv aveva già fatto i conti con il centesimo anniversario dell’Italia unita, la sua forza espressiva e la capacità di fare ancora da mezzo del racconto e della socializzazione della tradizione nazionale vengono messe alla prova in occasione delle più recenti celebrazioni. A partire da questo scenario, il contributo si propone di valutare potenzialità e criticità che la tv italiana ha offerto in relazione all’evento dei 150 anni dell’Unità d’Italia. Evento arrivato in momenti particolari per la storia italiana, scossa da crisi economica, politica e culturale, quest’anniversario diventa occasione concreta per riflettere sulle radici, sui personaggi e sulla gente comune che ha fatto l’Italia, generando energia e senso di appartenenza fondamentali per affrontare le difficoltà del periodo. Tuttavia, gli eventi risorgimentali e la partecipazione degli italiani al recupero della propria storia e della propria identità non trovano spazi adeguati nella programmazione televisiva italiana. L’analisi dei palinsesti fa emergere solo due casi interessanti di messa in scena di contenuti ad hoc, seppur con obiettivi diversi: Rai, in quanto Servizio Pubblico Multimediale, e Sky, quale soggetto privato, multinazionale con bisogno di accreditamento tra i pubblici italiani, che ha visto nei 150 anni dall’unità d’Italia contenuti desiderabili per il proprio pubblico. Nella ricostruzione del ruolo giocato dalla tv nella comunicazione dell’evento, si è scelto di partire da due domande di ricerca: 1. Qual è il ruolo giocato dalla televisione nella narrazione del senso di appartenenza e dell’identità? Può essa ricoprire ancora il ruolo di mezzo di unificazione nazionale? 2. I 150 anni dall’unità d’Italia e i contenuti relativi alla storia sociale e culturale, più in generale, sono un contenuto pregiato, oppure si presentano come application dovuta ma non gratificante per le audience della tv italiana? La prova dei 150 anni diventa, per questo mezzo di comunicazione, sempre più debole in termini di credibilità presso i propri pubblici, una vera sfida di recupero della sua funzione principale: strumento di democratizzazione che, attraverso un’intelligente e più lungimirante mediazione permette alle persone l’acquisizione di saperi, di competenze e quindi del diritto (non giuridico, ma morale) di essere parte integrante della società. La TV racconta l’Italia. Memoria nazionale, vecchie e nuove televisioni Abstract Nata ufficialmente in Italia il 3 gennaio del 1954, la televisione ha accolto il racconto delle celebrazioni dell’unità nazionale soprattutto nel 2011. Anche se nella sua vita da oramai stanca sessantenne la tv aveva già fatto i conti con il centesimo anniversario dell’Italia unita, la sua forza espressiva e la capacità di fare ancora da mezzo del racconto e della socializzazione della tradizione nazionale vengono messe alla prova in occasione delle più recenti celebrazioni. A partire da questo scenario, il contributo si propone di valutare potenzialità e criticità che la tv italiana ha offerto in relazione all’evento dei 150 anni dell’Unità d’Italia.
