The therapeutic aim of intracavernous treatment is to induce and maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse. The results obtained in wide-ranging clinical work, confirmed by 10 years of experience and more than 80 published clinical studies, allow us to state that PGE1 may be considered the drug of choice in the diagnosis and treatment of erectile dysfunction. In addition to its uses in the diagnostic and therapeutic phases, PGE1 has a role in preventing tissue damage to the muscular structures and the corpus cavernosum and may be used together with other therapies. In this work the clinical situations in which treatment with PGE1 may be suggested to the patient are identified.

Abstract
The therapeutic aim of intracavernous treatment is to induce and maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse. The results obtained in wide-ranging clinical work, confirmed by 10 years of experience and more than 80 published clinical studies, allow us to state that PGE1 may be considered the drug of choice in the diagnosis and treatment of erectile dysfunction. In addition to its uses in the diagnostic and therapeutic phases, PGE1 has a role in preventing tissue damage to the muscular structures and the corpus cavernosum and may be used together with other therapies. In this work the clinical situations in which treatment with PGE1 may be suggested to the patient are identified.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
