In the proposed work the results of a study on the evaluation of the benefits produced by the use of light weight floors in polystyrene instead of the traditional lateritious-concrete ones are presented. Aim of the investigation is the evaluation of the effects produced by the reduction of the floor mass on both the dynamic behaviour of the building and on the associated seismic forces, that is, the estimation of the gained benefits expressed in terms of reductions of the total weight of the building, of the total concrete volume of the structure, of the total weight of the steel bars and of the quantity of formworks. In order to compare both the importance of the different contributes and the total obtained benefit, the savings associated to the different reductions are also reported.

Abstract
In the proposed work the results of a study on the evaluation of the benefits produced by the use of light weight floors in polystyrene instead of the traditional lateritious-concrete ones are presented. Aim of the investigation is the evaluation of the effects produced by the reduction of the floor mass on both the dynamic behaviour of the building and on the associated seismic forces, that is, the estimation of the gained benefits expressed in terms of reductions of the total weight of the building, of the total concrete volume of the structure, of the total weight of the steel bars and of the quantity of formworks. In order to compare both the importance of the different contributes and the total obtained benefit, the savings associated to the different reductions are also reported.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
