A gas-liq. chromatog. method is reported for detg. the triphenyltin derivs. (Ph3SnR) and tricyclohexyltin hydroxide (Cy3SnOH) after their conversion (via the Grignard reaction catalyzed by CuCl) to tetraphenyltin (Ph4Sn) and tricyclohexylphenyltin (Cy3PhSn). The recovery of Ph4Sn and Cy3PhSn was satisfactory in the range 50 to 3000 mg. Different columns were tested using flame-ionization detection. For both derivs. (Ph4Sn and Cy3PhSn), the response is linear from 0.05 to 3.00 mg. Results of thermal anal., IR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry are reported
