Solubilities of carbon dioxide in the alkylaromatic solvents toluene, ethylbenzene, n-propylbenzene, n-butylbenzene and n-pentylbenzene were measured. Measurements were performed by a simple semiflow apparatus in the temperature range 283-303 K at 0.101 MPa total pressure. The resulting experimental data were modelled with the Peng-Robinson and the Soave-Redlich-Kwong equations of state. Just one temperature-independent parameter was used to obtain very good agreement between theoretical and experimental results.

Abstract

Solubilities of carbon dioxide in the alkylaromatic solvents toluene, ethylbenzene, n-propylbenzene, n-butylbenzene and n-pentylbenzene were measured. Measurements were performed by a simple semiflow apparatus in the temperature range 283-303 K at 0.101 MPa total pressure. The resulting experimental data were modelled with the Peng-Robinson and the Soave-Redlich-Kwong equations of state. Just one temperature-independent parameter was used to obtain very good agreement between theoretical and experimental results.
