The Auger parameter, α' = EB (Mg 2p) + EK (Mg KLL) has been employed to study the character of the Mg-O bond in MgO-NiO and MgO-CoO solid solutions. It is shown that the ionicity of the bond decreases with increasing transition metal content. The simple electrostatic model of Mott and Gurney has been applied to justify these findings. The result is relevant to the properties of oxide solid solutions as model catalysts.

Abstract
The Auger parameter, α' = EB (Mg 2p) + EK (Mg KLL) has been employed to study the character of the Mg-O bond in MgO-NiO and MgO-CoO solid solutions. It is shown that the ionicity of the bond decreases with increasing transition metal content. The simple electrostatic model of Mott and Gurney has been applied to justify these findings. The result is relevant to the properties of oxide solid solutions as model catalysts.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
