Relevant issues regarding the behavior of concrete, either plain or reinforced, confined with FRP are presented. The paper describes the state of development of three research areas: experimental, analytical (modeling) and design-oriented. The achievements attained so far are recognized and the needs for further research and future advancements are indicated.
