Emission of seismic waves, sound waves and dust are among the principal environmental issues associated with quarrying activity near urban centers. The paper deals with this aspect with regard to a quarry of leucithic lava. The exploitation methods (drilling and blasting at some distance from the urban center and demolishing hammers at closer range) have imposed a series of measurements to monitor seismic impact. Experimental measurements were also carried out on noise emissions from the crushing and treatment installations. The experimental data are presented and discussed in the light of current national and international regulations.

Abstract
Emission of seismic waves, sound waves and dust are among the principal environmental issues associated with quarrying activity near urban centers. The paper deals with this aspect with regard to a quarry of leucithic lava. The exploitation methods (drilling and blasting at some distance from the urban center and demolishing hammers at closer range) have imposed a series of measurements to monitor seismic impact. Experimental measurements were also carried out on noise emissions from the crushing and treatment installations. The experimental data are presented and discussed in the light of current national and international regulations.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
