Thermomechanical tests were conducted on four different high purity periclase magnesia-fired brick. These tests were used to select the suitable refractory material for the design of a regenerative heat exchanger for an open cycle indirect preheating, MHD pilot plant. Tests were conducted under the most severe temperature condition allowable in standard test equipment.

Abstract
