1. The occurrence of indole and imidazole compounds in six species of marine worms and six species of coelenterates was studied. 2. No 5-HT and histamine could be detected by bioassay in worm tissues. 3. Actinia equina and Anemonia natalensis contained in their body tissues conspicuous amounts of histamine, but no 5-HT; Bunodactis reynaudi tissues were rich in 5-HT, but lacked histamine; neither 5-HT or histamine was found in the tissues of Anthotoe stimpsoni. 4. Tissue extracts of Pseudoactinia varia and Pseudoactinia flagellifera apparently lacked both 5-HT and histamine, but they contained conspicuous amounts of as yet unidentified 5-hydroxyindole and imidazole compounds.

Abstract
4. Tissue extracts of Pseudoactinia varia and Pseudoactinia flagellifera apparently lacked both 5-HT and histamine, but they contained conspicuous amounts of as yet unidentified 5-hydroxyindole and imidazole compounds.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
