Although feng shui is very popular and is used around the world, its effects have not been scientifically evaluated. Objective and systematic methods are still needed to test the effects of feng shui on people's well-being. This paper starts with an overview of the basic principles and schools of thought of environmental psychology and feng shin and then focuses on the comparison between these two disciplines, with particular references to two aspects of psychological impacts of the physical environment: restorativeness and control.
