Cyclotrimerization of TC≡CT over a K2CrO4-promoted silica-alumina catalyst gave 47% of a mixt. of C6TnH6-n (n = 2-6), whereas similar catalyzed cyclopolymn. of a 1:10 mixt. of MeC≡CH and TC≡CT gave a mixt. of C6TnH5-nMe (n = 1-5). Side chain labeled toluenes were prepd. by reductive dehalogenation of PhCCl3 with T2O in the presence of Zn to give PhCTnH3-n (n = 1-3).
