Abstract
T atom distribution in the anisole formed from the attack of a nucleogenic tritiated phenylium ion on gaseous MeOH provides the first exptl. evidence for gas-phase automerization of the phenylium ion. p-T2C6H4 was dild. with liq. or gaseous MeOH, stored 3.5 mo, and the abs. yields and distributions of the radioactive products were detd. MeOH(l) gave 64.7% radioactive products, shown by chlorination to be 100% p-MeOC6H4T; MeOH(g) gave 44.9% radioactive products, shown by chlorination to be 7.7% o-, 16.6% m-, and 75.7% p-MeOC6H4T. The mechanism of the automerization is discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
