New computationally-efficient correlation techniques are proposed for time delay estimation of radio-frequency (complex) signals and their performance analyzed by computer simulations. From the comparison with the direct multiply-and-accumulate method, complex hybrid sign (CHS) and complex polarity coincidence (CPC) correlators reveal interesting trade-offs between estimation accuracy and computational complexity. 'Full' and 'reduced' structures of the proposed estimators (and of the direct correlator) have been taken into account.

Abstract
New computationally-efficient correlation techniques are proposed for time delay estimation of radio-frequency (complex) signals and their performance analyzed by computer simulations. From the comparison with the direct multiply-and-accumulate method, complex hybrid sign (CHS) and complex polarity coincidence (CPC) correlators reveal interesting trade-offs between estimation accuracy and computational complexity. 'Full' and 'reduced' structures of the proposed estimators (and of the direct correlator) have been taken into account.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
