Ear abnormalities as part of malformative syndromes of the head and face [ANOMALIE AURICOLARI NELLE SINDROMI MALFORMATIVE CRANIO-FACCIALI: VALUTAZIONI CLINICHE ED ANTROPOMETRICHE]

The Authors stress the importance of a correct diagnosis of ear malformations presenting as part of the clinical picture of malformation syndromes of the head and face, in order to have a complete classification and to decide on a protocol of treatment. Data from the literature are herein presented and compared with those obtained with this study which was conducted on 100 patients with ear malformations, assessed according to anthropometric scales. The Authors thus describe, apart from abnormal ear shape, also abnormal ear position in the malformation syndromes of the head and face. Finally, they underline the importance of correcting all anomalies, including those affecting soft tissues, that concur in giving the typical 'facies' to malformed patients.
