The optical density (OD) variations after irradn. in monochromatic light are reported. At 2700 Å, there is a decrease in OD due to thymine disappearance, while in the >3000 Å region an increase in OD indicated the formation of a photoproduct different from thymine and its dimer. The optical properties of this new photoproduct were detd., and an absorption max. at 3250 Å was found. The kinetics of its formation under irradn. with 2450 ± 30 Å light was followed as well as its disappearance after reirradn. at 3250 ± 30 Å.

Abstract
The optical density (OD) variations after irradn. in monochromatic light are reported. At 2700 Å, there is a decrease in OD due to thymine disappearance, while in the >3000 Å region an increase in OD indicated the formation of a photoproduct different from thymine and its dimer. The optical properties of this new photoproduct were detd., and an absorption max. at 3250 Å was found. The kinetics of its formation under irradn. with 2450 ± 30 Å light was followed as well as its disappearance after reirradn. at 3250 ± 30 Å.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
