The thin-layer chromatog. plates, precoated with silica gel, were derivatized by soaking in a soln. of glycidoxypropyltrimethoxy silane in toluene at 110°. After 45 min reaction, the plates were washed with benzene, then with MeOH, and dried. The plates were used to sep. a series of strictly related trans-[PdCl2L2] complexes, where L = hydrazone. The plates were also used to study the reaction of ligand exchange in soln. between Pd complexes with different ligands [trans-(PdCl2L2) and trans-(PdCl2L'2)] and the formation of the mixed complex trans-(PdCl2LL').
