The title complex is monoclinic, space group C2/m, with a 11.504(9), b 9.639(8), c 8.163(8) Å, and β 110.53(8)°; d.(calcd.) = 1.57 for Z = 2. The structure was solved by Patterson and Fourier methods and refined by full-matrix least squares to R = 0.033. The complex has 2/m symmetry. Two N atoms from cyclic hydrazone ligands and 2 Cl atoms are trans coordinated to the Pd atom in a square-planar arrangement. The cyclic ligand has a sofa conformation. This appears to be the 1st example in which a nearly complete conjugation between the aminic lone pair and the ketiminyl π-system is attained.
