This paper deals with the performance comparison of alternative network scenarios for the support of PCS by means of IN architecture in a short/medium term perspective. The comparison is based on the estimate of signalling load on SS7 network and of processing load on the control nodes (SCP). The main goal of this work is .to provide some preliminary results on the trade-off between the complexity of SCPs, the number of SCPs and the signalling load on SS7 network.

Abstract

This paper deals with the performance comparison of alternative network scenarios for the support of PCS by means of IN architecture in a short/medium term perspective. The comparison is based on the estimate of signalling load on SS7 network and of processing load on the control nodes (SCP). The main goal of this work is .to provide some preliminary results on the trade-off between the complexity of SCPs, the number of SCPs and the signalling load on SS7 network.
