Celyte(I)-supported cellulose 10-undecaonate (II) [61536-92-3] and cellulose-o-aminothiophenol reaction product (III) can reduce the Hg2+ concn. in aq. solns. from 0.5 ml/l to 0.5 mg/l. A practical operational scheme is proposed which involves the sequential elution of a Hg2+-contg. soln. through a column filled with I-supported II followed by elution through a column filled with III.

Abstract
