Strain PA 01, identified as Pedomicrobium sp., was isolated on the basis of the capability to remove volatile sulfur containing fragments, including H2S, from carboxythiophene and the heterocyclic sulfurated molecules: benzothiofene, thianthrene, thiophene, thiophenecarboxyaldehyde and dibenzothiophene. The strain PA 01 was selected for its desulfurating capability on synthetic media in different culture conditions and atmosphere composition. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.

Abstract
Strain PA 01, identified as Pedomicrobium sp., was isolated on the basis of the capability to remove volatile sulfur containing fragments, including H2S, from carboxythiophene and the heterocyclic sulfurated molecules: benzothiofene, thianthrene, thiophene, thiophenecarboxyaldehyde and dibenzothiophene. The strain PA 01 was selected for its desulfurating capability on synthetic media in different culture conditions and atmosphere composition.
