This is a report of the full conference, Tracking Language Change in Specialised and Professional Genres, University of Modena, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, 24 – 26 November 2011, organized by the CLAVIER (Corpus and Language Variation In English Research) Group, the centre founded by the Universities of Bergamo, Firenze, Modena and Reggio Emilia, Sapienza University of Rome, and Siena. The focus was the value of diachronic approaches in tracking generic change in a range of academic, professional and institutional discourse, the evolution of existing genres and the emergence of new “globalizing” genres. The report was commissioned by AIA, Associazione Italiana di Anglistica.
