This paper investigates the possibility of finding a criterion for selecting significant image information able to assess the quality of the whole image. The small class of natural images along with their statistical properties has been analyzed. Preliminary experimental results using SSIM as the visual quality measure are presented; the low statistical errors obtained confirms the effectiveness of this strategy. © 2011 University of Zagreb.

Abstract
This paper investigates the possibility of finding a criterion for selecting significant image information able to assess the quality of the whole image. The small class of natural images along with their statistical properties has been analyzed. Preliminary experimental results using SSIM as the visual quality measure are presented; the low statistical errors obtained confirms the effectiveness of this strategy. © 2011 University of Zagreb.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
