This paper tries to transfer the concept of intertextuality (as Maria Corti used it to overstep the limits of the debate opened by Asin Palacios in the XXth century, from the field of the literary theory towards a a cultural-historical perspective, in order to highlight some features of a topic questioned by recent trends of both medievalist and arabistic historiography and literary history: the removal of the Arab presence from the cultural context from which the making of an identitarian idean of Europe and Westerness arises:
