Abstract
Alter underlining the relation between impedance audiometry and otosclerosis, the Authors mention the causes ol the poot clinical use ol the static compliance. Purposes ol the hesearch baue been the follouing: I) check ol the distribution ol tbe scores of static compliance in cases ototosclerosis surgically confirmed; 2) examination of the relation between the airbone gap in pure tone audiogram and tbe scores of static compliance; 3) control of the changes of the static compliance alter stapedectomy. 87 operated on ears and 101 normal ears as a control group have been examined. The static compliance scores of the two groups have been compared and a wide superimposition resulted. However, comparison of the incidence of normal and pathological cases with low scores of static compliance (0.35 cc.e.) resulted in a best specificity of the static compliance in otosclerotic patients. Moreover, the Authors point out an inverse ratio between static conpliance scores and pure tone air-bone gap in cases of otosclerosis. Alter controlling tbe static compliance in stapedectomized ears pre and post-operatively, the Autbors show the worth of this parameter combined with the others audiometric tests, to evaluate some surgical procedures for the otosclerosis.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
