Abstract

The research in the field of nonlinear dynamics in the last decades has generated a great deal of knoweldge along with new scientific paradigms. More advances can be foreseen in the near future, resulting from an intense and complementary focus on experimental and theoretical studies. The experimental validation of approximate nonlinear theories for complex nonlinear systems such as continuum or reduced-order models of infinite-dimensional systems and the investigation of new phenomena not yet predicted by established theoretical frameworks are among some of the current challenging research fronts. The ENOC Conference should be an appropriate forum for presentation and discussion of original research in the field of experimental nonlinear dynamics. Papers are especially solicited in the following areas: 1) experimental investigations of resonance phenomena and bifurcations in mechanical and structural systems. 2) comparison of experimental data and theoretical predictions as obtained with combined use of approximate nonlinear theories and analytical order-reduction or numerical techniques. 3) nonlinear space-time characteristics of resonant motions in spatially continuous systems. 4) use of experimental data for identification of reduced-order models of complex nonlinear systems. 5) novel experimental techniques in the time, frequency, and time/frequency domains. 6) experimental validation of nonlinear vibration control strategies.
