The encircling of the eye is one of the elective surgical techniques in retinal detachment. The ends of the enciclings element were fixed to each other by a reabsorbable thread (vicryl 6/0) instead of the traditional non-reabsorbable thread (ticron 5/0). With this new technique the increase of myopia, teh volume reduction of the eye and the suffering of the chorio-retinal microcirculation due to the compressive effect of the encircling band can be avoided. Our personal serie with one year of follow up will be discussed.

Abstract
