Tumours of the salivary glands represent 3% of all head and neck tumours. Those that come from minor salivary glands are about 10-15% of this group. Basal-cell adenoma is an uncommon histological type, usually located in the parotid gland, minor salivary glands of the upper lip and, less frequently, in the palate. A case of basal-cell adenoma, located in the minor salivary glands of the palate, with clinical aspects suggesting a malignant lesion, is presented. The relative rarity of the clinical aspect, the peculiarity of the differential diagnosis and the surgical treatment are described.

Abstract
Tumours of the salivary glands represent 3% of all head and neck tumours. Those that come from minor salivary glands are about 10-15% of this group. Basal-cell adenoma is an uncommon histological type, usually located in the parotid gland, minor salivary glands of the upper lip and, less frequently, in the palate. A case of basal-cell adenoma, located in the minor salivary glands of the palate, with clinical aspects suggesting a malignant lesion, is presented. The relative rarity of the clinical aspect, the peculiarity of the differential diagnosis and the surgical treatment are described.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
