An extensive numerical analysis of the dynamic seismic behaviour of r.c. bridges made by a simply-supported horizontal deck and vertical piers of several heights, and retrofitted by different techniques, is illustrated and discussed. The seismic fragility of some example bridges is assessed by means of a Monte Carlo simulation technique improved by Directional Simulation and Importance Sampling. The results give some insight into the efficiency of alternative retrofit techniques, and provide guidelines for the optimization of the intervention technology and for prioritizing retrofit interventions among different structures.

Abstract
An extensive numerical analysis of the dynamic seismic behaviour of r.c. bridges made by a simply-supported horizontal deck and vertical piers of several heights, and retrofitted by different techniques, is illustrated and discussed. The seismic fragility of some example bridges is assessed by means of a Monte Carlo simulation technique improved by Directional Simulation and Importance Sampling. The results give some insight into the efficiency of alternative retrofit techniques, and provide guidelines for the optimization of the intervention technology and for prioritizing retrofit interventions among different structures.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
