The interaction between divalent receptors and divalent ligands and the effect of cyclic complexes formation was investigated, deriving information on the shape and the asymptotic characteristics of the binding curves in a normalized Scatchard plot. A marked pseudocooperative shape was found to occur when the formation of monogamous rings is hampered, especially when the total receptor-site concentration is equal to the intrinsic bimolecular dissociation constant. The analysis was extended to a representation taking into account whole molecules rather than binding sites.

Abstract
The interaction between divalent receptors and divalent ligands and the effect of cyclic complexes formation was investigated, deriving information on the shape and the asymptotic characteristics of the binding curves in a normalized Scatchard plot. A marked pseudocooperative shape was found to occur when the formation of monogamous rings is hampered, especially when the total receptor-site concentration is equal to the intrinsic bimolecular dissociation constant. The analysis was extended to a representation taking into account whole molecules rather than binding sites.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
