In the paper a study on possible improvements to local and regional railway services in the node of Rome in view of the candidature for the XXXII Olympic Games and the XVI Paraolympic Games in 2020 is explained. The interaction between railways services and urban rail modes of transport, the increases of services basing on the existing/planned infrastructure layout and the assessment of benefits due to possible new infrastructures, such as lines and stations, are described.
