Scope of the work is to investigate the interests of Strabo in the field of ancient grammar, using as a sample the four books devoted to Asia (XI-XIV). The study emphasizes the strong philological component in the work of the geographer and the constant intersection between historical and geographical themes. In the particular case of early history, we find that Strabo systematically makes use of Homeric exegesis.
