Verso un costruire a densità sostenibile.

Despite sustainable architecture is gradually giving up from its tendency status taking central role in the discipline, most of the conducted work so far has focused on bounded aims with lack of effectiveness. We need to go beyond the building, facing with the urban condition which puts the more complex questions, but shows at the same time the greatest potential to achieve a truly sustainable building environment. This PhD research aims to contribute defining a logical framework that could facilitate an appropriate approach to current situation and future possibilities. The main focus is on technologies’ role - taken on different scale - to define design strategies and tools appropriate to more sustainable density contexts. As a result of completing the research, is possible to summarize in three different kinds: the analysis concerning connection between density and sustainability in urban environment, the formulation of Sustainable Density’s genealogy and logical framework.
