Semiconductors based on pi-conjugated small-molecules and polymers are widely studied as the active layer in a variety of electronic and opto-electronic devices. Currently, an increasing interest is directed towards the use of (semi-)crystalline commodity polymers as matrix materials. This approach lead to outstanding materials that under appropriate processing conditions feature excellent performance in OFETs and OPVs at remarkably low semiconductor contents, thus offering the prospect for significant cost reduction as well as significantly enhanced stability of devices produced with them. Here we present preliminary results of an investigation on bi-/multi-component blends comprising semiconducting arylacetylenes and selected semi-crystalline commodity polymers.
