Ninty patients (153 eyes) with reduced visual acuity caused by different ocular disorders underwent visual rehabilitation with an instrument for biofeedback, improved biofeedback inegated system (IBIS). One hunderd and fourteen eyes had age-related macular degeneration and 39 eyes had myopic macular degeneration. A placebo training was developped on 34 patients (48 eyes): thirty three had age related macular degeneration and 15 had myopic macular degeneration. Visual acuity was found to be improved in the group of eyes treated with IBIS in 115 over 153 eyes (75,16%). Mean visual acuity was 0,23 before training and 0,36 at the last follow up (18 months). A review of the literature and possible mechanisms of action are discussed
