The actual elaboration of the data contained in commercial road geographic database allows to extract the road graph and it permits to plan the transports trough the calculation of the travel times and the costs of the routes. The procedure of analysis proposed in this paper enables an improvement of the graph definition and it permits the travel characteristics determination through the ideation and the application of a new specific algorithm. The employment of specific predictive model of the operational speeds, compatible to the available data format, has allowed a most reliable evaluation of the speeds in relationship with the geometric characteristics of the roads that constitute the itineraries. This refinement allows to come both to the safety valuations and to the improvement of the travel time estimation; this last is necessary to improve the plan of travel.
