This work presents a study on possible subsurface models for GPR exploration of Martian soil. In particular, based on recent experiments, the electromagnetic properties of Mars soil simulants are reported and relevant GPR performance is calculated in different frequency ranges through a onedimensional transmission-line propagation model. The presence of statistically-distributed inhomogeneities inside soil is also taken into account by calculating their scattering and attenuation features.

Abstract
This work presents a study on possible subsurface models for GPR exploration of Martian soil. In particular, based on recent experiments, the electromagnetic properties of Mars soil simulants are reported and relevant GPR performance is calculated in different frequency ranges through a onedimensional transmission-line propagation model. The presence of statistically-distributed inhomogeneities inside soil is also taken into account by calculating their scattering and attenuation features.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
