The new materials of napthalocyanines (Nc), 2b,2c,and 3, exhibit optical limting properties at both 532 and 1064 nm when irradated with nanosecond pulse lasers. These compounds show high transparency over a wide range in the UV-vis region when their CS 2 solutions have a linear transmission of 75 percent at 1064 nm. This property makes the use of this class of materials in optical limiters operating in both the UV-vis and near infra red (NIR) regions feasible. It was found that the results can open new applications for the Nc-based materials in the fields of optical limiting and sensor protection.
