Concerning the preservation of wrought-iron components as a complement in architecture. Wrought-iron items in architecture often represent a component of autonomous value. The presence of such items, diversified territorially for quality and quantity, has with time assumed a role of particular importance in architecture, enriching both the exterior and the interior of religious and civic buildings. Wrought-iron items present in architecture characterize the architectural context in which they are inserted, and sometimes also influence the immediate surroundings. In an architectural survey, as understood in its broadest sense of knowledge of the structure, one cannot fail to also document these items, albeit in more or less graphic synthesis as is necessary in relation to the scale of representation and the aim of the survey. Items in wrought-iron, therefore, must be considered on a par with other details such as pilasters, pediments, etc., and the attention paid to them must be rigorous, if only in view of the deterioration such materials suffer. This heritage, which reaches the fullness of its expressive possibilities if related to the architecture of which it is an integral part, in some cases needs, first of all, to be documented, in order to form the basis for taking the first steps towards a desirable action to avoid their inexorable demise.

Abstract
This heritage, which reaches the fullness of its expressive possibilities if related to the architecture of which it is an integral part, in some cases needs, first of all, to be documented, in order to form the basis for taking the first steps towards a desirable action to avoid their inexorable demise.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
