This paper is devoted to the analysis of the actual state of a portion of the Roman Aqua Claudia aqueduct, built in the early empire. At that time, Roman construction techniques used for public works were still inspired by Greek typologies - we refer to the trilithic scheme - although with some innovations such as that of the arch used instead of lintels over two contiguous pillars. Immediately after it was built, the Aqua Claudia aqueduct, as well as that of Aqua Marcia, needed restoration work due to the poor quality of the material used. The history of the section discussed here has been marked first by the Barbarian invasions and then by medieval interventions involving the erection of a thirty-meter high tower, the Fiscale tower, on top of a pillar and a semi-arch of both the Aqua Claudia and Aqua Marcia aqueducts.
