In recent years sustainability has become one of the most discussed issue and organizations have paid more and more attention to sustainable manufacturing philosophy. There are many aspects which affects industrial plants sustainability, some of them are certainly production continuity and equipment efficiency. Consequently, maintenance activities, by preventing systems failures, may certainly contribute to sustainable manufacturing. Despite this correlation, the maintenance for sustainability issue has not been deeply analysed. On these considerations, the paper proposes a Failure Mode Environmental Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMEECA) in order to evaluate possible environmental risks associated to particular failure modes and provides useful indications on how to reduce them.

Abstract
