Abstract
Poor environmental quality and lack of sustainable transport systems are common problems to be solved in urban areas. For Rome, the situation called for a revision of the current transportation policy, based on the increase of sustainable modes of transport and on the improvement of awareness among the citizens, by the implementation of measures, as tools to achieve a more livable urban environment; they focus on rationalization of central areas access, improvement of electric public transport fleet and of the related information system, upgrading of green corridors, air quality control and transport demand monitoring to check variations due to the measures implementations. This package of interventions is part of MIRACLES (Multi Initiatives for Rationalised Accessibility and Clean Liveable Environments), a Demonstration Project funded by the European Community. The paper deals with the methodology to assess the process, the methods to gather information, the implementation, the innovative aspects (mainly in terms of users involvement) and the expected results.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
