Natural populations of Scytonema myochrous (Dillw.) Ag. emend Jaag. present in the status typicus and in the status petalonema, have been observed in four epilithic stations of the high valley of the river Aniene (Italy). The finding of a filament showing a clear dimorphic sheath confirms the attribution of Petalonema alatum Berk. to Scytonema myochrous proposed by Jaag (1943).
