An analytical and a statistical approach to describe the scintillation crystal arrays responses are presented in order to identify crystal detectors. They were applied to two flood-field irradiation images, with and without strong distortion and no linearity. The comparison of the outcomes suggests that the first and simplest to apply one is appropriate for light distortion, whereas the second and more complex statistical approach is unavoidable in the presence of strong distortions of the image. Abstract
