The management of sewage sludge is one of the critical issues facing society today. The conventional disposal options include landfill, application to farmland and incineration. A promising alternative to the conventional disposal options which has received considerable attention in the last years is the pyrolytic carbonisation of sludge for the production of carbonaceous adsorbents. In this work, pyrolysis of sewage sludge was carried out. The obtained carbonaceous material was tested as adsorbent in batch experiments both in a conventional activated sludge treatment and in a model system.

Abstract
The management of sewage sludge is one of the critical issues facing society today. The conventional disposal options include landfill, application to farmland and incineration. A promising alternative to the conventional disposal options which has received considerable attention in the last years is the pyrolytic carbonisation of sludge for the production of carbonaceous adsorbents. In this work, pyrolysis of sewage sludge was carried out. The obtained carbonaceous material was tested as adsorbent in batch experiments both in a conventional activated sludge treatment and in a model system.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
