We compared the indications and the results of the treatment of the tibiotarsic joint degenerative pathology, treated either with arthroplasty or arthrodesis surgery. The indications for the arthoprosthesis surgery are limited to the cases where the degeneration is not severe, due to the necessity of a sufficient talus bone stock. The tibiotarsic arthrodesis can be performed independently from the talus bone stock. The use of sagittal screws passing through the calcaneus and the talus has widened its application to deformities that previously could only be treated with external fixation

Abstract
We compared the indications and the results of the treatment of the tibiotarsic joint degenerative pathology, treated either with arthroplasty or arthrodesis surgery. The indications for the arthoprosthesis surgery are limited to the cases where the degeneration is not severe, due to the necessity of a sufficient talus bone stock. The tibiotarsic arthrodesis can be performed independently from the talus bone stock. The use of sagittal screws passing through the calcaneus and the talus has widened its application to deformities that previously could only be treated with external fixationI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
