The article, which is part of the special issue of the "Journal critic of Italian philosophy" dedicated to "Garin and the Twentieth Century", takes into account the methodological reflections of Garin on the relationship between philosophy and history of philosophy, particularly with regard to the volume " Philosophy as historical knowledge "(1959), which discusses the Hegelian categories that have inspired the traditional way of doing history of philosophy. The author sheds light on the links between the historical methodology of Garin and his work as a historian of philosophy (widely known for his studies on the philosophy of the Renaissance) and reconstructs his conception of the history of philosophy by putting it in relation with the philosophical traditions Italian, and idealistic Marxist, Gentile and Croce, Gramsci. In the special issue of the review devoted to Garin and the twentieth century, this paper considers the methodological reflections by Eugenio Garin about the relation between philosophy and history of philosophy, with Particular attention to the book "Philosophy as historical knowledge" (1959) , That Discusses the traditional Hegelian categories. The author points out the links connecting the historical methodology of Garin Both With His practice as historian of philosophy (Widely known for His studies on Renaissance philosophy), and with His face to the idealistic conception developed and marxistic Italian tradition from the Cross to Gentile and Gramsci.

L’articolo, che fa parte del fascicolo speciale del “Giornale critico della filosofia italiana” dedicato a “Garin e il Novecento”, prende in considerazione le riflessioni metodologiche di Garin sulla relazione tra filosofia e storia della filosofia, con particolare riguardo al volume “La filosofia come sapere storico” (1959), nel quale vengono discusse le categorie hegeliane che hanno ispirato il modo tradizionale di fare storia della filosofia. L’autore mette in luce i legami tra la metodologia storica di Garin e la sua attività di storico della filosofia (largamente conosciuto per i suoi studi sulla filosofia del Rinascimento) e ricostruisce la sua concezione della storia della filosofia mettendola in relazione con le tradizioni filosofiche italiane, idealistica e marxistica, da Gentile e Croce a Gramsci. Abstract
